“My data has never been so backed up. Sallie’s friendly reminders to back up data have been a lifesaver. Her emails are like the little voice in your head that tells you all the right things to do, if only you will listen. Thanks Sallie!”

Just about the time his hard drive crashed, one of my clients suggested that I send around a weekly backup reminder to everyone I worked with. That was July 2003. I’ve been sending Backup Reminder e-zines ever since. The FileSlinger™ Backup Reminder didn’t become a blog until January 2005, but you can read some of the 2003 and 2004 backup reminders here. They started out as a simple question: “Have you backed up your data this week?” and evolved into substantial columns.
If you tend to put off backing up your hard drive, or just don’t get this whole RSS blog subscription thing, you might want to sign up for these reminders. I don’t even care if you read them, as long as you remember to back up when you receive them.
Here’s the sign-up form for the e-mail version of the Backup Reminder. It should go without saying that I will not sell or rent your information and you can unsubscribe any time you want. The only thing I’m going to send you (apart from the occasional urgent announcement like the one saying I’ve redesigned the whole FileSlinger™ website around the blog) is the reminder. No sales pitches. Google AdSense notwithstanding, I’m not selling anything. I only write about backup systems. I let other, better-suited people install, configure, maintain, and repair them.
